Better parks, transit and renewable energy are a few things the Bronx can look forward to under an initiative by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
PlaNYC 2030 encompasses 127 initiatives designed to make New York the best big city in America. Bloomberg has said the changes will accommodate the 1 million additional residents city planners expect to come to New York City.
Transportation will improve with a rapid bus route along Fordham Road and Pelham Parkway that will carry 7,000 riders daily. A Metro-North expansion to Co-op City and Hunts Point are also planned.
The mayor's initiative includes generating renewable energy through organic waste recovery at a Hunts Point facility. The project will also allow for improvements at Soundview and Van Cortlandt parks.
Bloomberg wants to cut emissions 30 percent by 2030.
