The Bronx Defenders hosted a free fair Tuesday that not only offered plenty of fun, but also helpful resources.
The group's annual outdoor block party was held on East 160th Street, between Melrose and Courtlandt avenues.
There were plenty of drinks, food, music and performances, as well as a number of local organizations there to talk to residents about all the services they offer.
The Bronx Defenders have been hosting the block party for the past 13 years. The group, which provides holistic defense to its clients, is a community resource that fights for justice for low-income communities by trying to keep families together.
In January, the Defenders came under fire when a music video surfaced, which appeared to show two of its attorneys singing controversial lyrics. The video, called "Hands Up," included pictures of guns held to a police officer's head and lyrics promoting violence against officers. A few scenes appeared to have been shot inside the Bronx Defenders' office.
The lawyers resigned in February after a probe by the city's Department of Investigation.
A representative of the group says the Defenders remain committed to supporting the borough.
