Officials held memorial services Thursday honoring NYPD Officer Randolph Holder, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last year.
According to officials, 30-year-old Tyrone Howard opened fire on Officer Holder during a chase, after stealing a bike in Harlem.
He was a third-generation police officer, according to family and friends. His father and grandfather both served in their native Guyana.
City officials honored Holder with a memorial ceremony in Battery Park City.
A plaque-unveiling ceremony was also held in front of PSA 5 near the unit where Holder worked.
