Middlesex County has just launched a new ride-sharing app for New Brunswick residents.
The county Department of Transportation says that for just $3, riders can book a ride through the RIDE on Demand app.
‘It’s a part of our overall transportation plan in a sense that we’re looking at bike routes, we’re looking at greenways like we have them in…Metuchen. Different ways, different means of transportation to get people around the county - to work, to home, to school - whatever the case may be,” says Khalid Anjum, head of the Middlesex County DOT.
Middlesex County Commissioner Charles Kenny says after this one-year pilot program they are planning to expand the RIDE on Demand program throughout the county.
The rides can only be booked through the program’s app, which can be found in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Kenny says rides will be available on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
