Major League Baseball and USA Baseball announced an expansion to their “Fun at Bat” program, a free children’s baseball course.
The program will now include after-school programs where kids will learn about the sport at an entry level. It will also feature an educational aspect teaching about teamwork and leadership.
"It's not about nine innings and winning and losing, it's more about fundamentals of the sport. But not really in a game format, more in a learning format,” said executive director of USA Baseball Paul Seiler.
The organizations say the program will reach more than 400 boys and girls clubs across the country.
"It's just an amazing thing how you can just come after school, and just like do your homework and then just come and practice and play,” said Nikayla, a member of the program.
