The Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that a new facility will be built in Roberto Clemente Park.
The MLB has teamed up with New York State and Harlem RBI for a new Urban Youth Academy, and plans on donating millions of dollars to build it.
The academy provides free year-round instruction in baseball and softball to kids. It focuses on making meaningful contributions to the development of urban communities, providing safe and organized activities for urban youth and preparing high school players for both college and professional programs.
This will be the first youth academy in New York. It is set to open in Spring 2017.
