A group of Major League Baseball umpires visited the children's hospital at Montefiore Medical Center Tuesday to deliver a Build-A-Bear workshop to patients there.
The umps are in town for the Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees this week. Among the available outfits kids could dress their bears in were uniforms for both teams.
The event is part of the Ump Cares charity, an organization that aims to help children in need with memorable baseball experiences.
Ump Cares says it delivers about 1,400 bears to kids around the United States and Canada every year.
