A one-of-a-kind program uses a van to make stops to homeless and at-risk COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms across New York City.
Project Renewal says their visits help keep these patients out of the emergency room while saving hospital resources.
"People experiencing homelessness they have less access to care than anybody else, especially," says Dr. Amy Edelstein. "We take anybody, regardless of your ability to pay. If you don't have insurance, if you do have insurance, we'll see you for anything, any services that you need. It's important that everybody gets the medical care that they need."
