Monroe EMS, former Fairfield Deputy Police Chief Don Smith dies following battle with cancer 

First responders in Monroe shared the news of Smith's passing on their Facebook page.

Monroe EMS and former Fairfield Deputy Police Chief Don Smith has died, officials say.
Smith died Tuesday after a battle with cancer. 
First responders in Monroe shared the news of Smith's passing on their Facebook page. 
Smith joined Monroe EMS 12 years ago. He also spent 31 year with the Fairfield Police Department, retiring as Deputy Chief in 2021.
He served as the town of Monroe's chief of Emergency Medical Service.
