The Mott Haven Farm Stand is bringing food to those in our borough who need it most.
The farm stand held its Summer Kickoff event today.
When Hunger Free America found that 1 in 4 Bronx residents experienced food insecurity between 2018 and 2020, Bronxworks started to open its Mott Haven Farm Stand every summer to take healthy meals from farm to plate.
The farm stand runs every Wednesday through November at NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Belvis and every Thursday at Bronxworks from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The farm stand sells fresh fruits and veggies and even offers lessons on how to use the things you buy to cook a nutritious meal.
Food insecurity has been linked to chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes, something that disproportionately impacts Black and brown communities in the states.
The stand accepts cash as well as EBT and SNAP.
