Residents living in a NYCHA facility in the Bronx say their units are plagued with leaky ceilings and electrical issues.
Muhammad Gamneh has lived in the NYCHA building on 137th Street and Willis Avenue for 10 years.
He says water has been leaking from the ceiling inside of his bathroom and recently caused an electrical outlet to spark.
"My children don't even want to use the bathroom. They are scared to use the bathroom because the water is coming down. They think the wall is going to fall on them and I have to go with them," he says.
And he's not the only one who is concerned.
The neighbor right across the hallway says he is also fed up having to dealing with cracks, holes and leaks for the past two months.
One resident on the seventh floor above Gamneh says she even fell while walking to the bathroom due to the water dripping into the hallway.
"We are living like animals. In the morning and night, the floor floods. We can't spend all day cleaning this water," she says.
A spokesperson for NYCHA commented by saying, "The situation is unacceptable. A plumber is fixing the underlying cause of the leak now and will schedule follow up repairs with the residents as soon as possible. We can and will do better. "
