There was a Super Tuesday celebration Tuesday at a school in Mott Haven, but the event had nothing to do with politics.
Students at New York City Montessori Charter School gathered for a lesson in character from former Giants defensive lineman Jimmie Bell – who drove from Ohio to reflect on his life and offer tips to the kids.
"The most important thing that I can do for each individual is to get them to understand that it's within themselves to live whatever dream they have," said Bell.
Physical education teacher and coach Brett Goldstein came up with this idea for Super Tuesday a decade ago, using sports as a metaphor for life and to teach the importance of character education and sportsmanship.
Many students say they will carry the messages they learned with them in the future.
