Tenants at a Mount Eden apartment building say their mailboxes have been broken for months and their mail is disappearing.
Dennis Bonner lives in the building on Shakespeare Avenue.
He says he's had his debit card and checks amounting to $400 stolen from his mailbox.
"My mailbox has been compromised, it's not secured, it's easy to gain access to, it pretty much invades everybody's privacy in their mailbox," said Bonner.
Bonner showed News 12 how the entire panel of eight mailboxes does not lock, and can be accessed by anyone.
"I've spoken to the management company about this issue, and they haven't fixed it, it's a problem," Bonner said.
He says the lack of security cameras in the building has made it difficult to file a police report and catch the culprit.
"I am a hard-working person, that works, and I feel like everybody's mailbox should be secured, to where they shouldn't have to get a PO box but if that's a step I have to take until it gets fixed," Bonner said.
News 12 reached out to Nosotros Housing Development Corporation, which is listed as the property management for the building, but did not hear back from them at the time of this report.
