Mount Saint Vincent was hoping for a repeat of last year?s championship win against Staten Island when the women?s soccer foes met again earlier this week.
Mount Head Coach Tony Elmore gave the Lady Dolphins a pep talk, but it did little good early in the game. Mount was down in the second half. Staten Island?s goalie held down her post, helping the team win 3-1. Staten Island clinched the regular season title.
Mount Saint Vincent pulled off an upset in 2005 by beating Staten Island 1-0 in the HVWAC Tournament. It was the school?s first-ever women?s soccer title.
