The MTA says the free bus service pilot program is set to end on Aug. 31.
The program, which launched last September, studied how fare-free service affects a number of things like ridership, equity and fare evasion.
Brooklyn residents told News 12 the B60 bus was a great way to get them around for free.
"A lot of people use it," said Carmen, of Canarsie. "I mean we get to the train station, the last stop, and there’s so many buses here, it helps.”
Other residents understand the decision.
“In order for the MTA to run it needs funds, it’s a business as well," said John Owens, of Bed-Stuy.
B60 riders will resume paying bus fares on Sep. 1. The base fare for the bus service is $2.90.
