MTA bans alcohol on LIRR, Metro-North for SantaCon
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is banning alcohol on Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North trains and platforms this weekend during SantaCon.
The alcohol ban runs from 4 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 until 12 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11.

“Maintaining safe and orderly travel is always a priority,” said MTA Police Chief John Mueller. “We want everyone to enjoy their holiday festivities and get to their destination smoothly and on time.”

There will also be an increased MTA police presence at Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal to enforce the ban. The MTA says police will confiscate alcohol and issue summonses, with violators subject to removal from trains or stations.
