Multiple cars were vandalized Saturday morning in a spree of vandalism that stretched from Pelham Bay to Throgs Neck, leaving residents on edge.
News 12 is told that the windows of multiple cars were smashed on Buhre and Mayflower avenues. The damage is believed to have been caused by a BB gun.
In Throgs Neck, there was shattered glass on the street in the aftermath of the vandalism. And damage was also reported in Country Club.
In many of the cases, residents say nothing was stolen.
Residents say such incidents have become rampant in the area, and they're afraid to wake up and find their own cars damaged.
In a statement, the NYPD says, "The commanding officer of the 45th Precinct is aware of vandalism involving multiple vehicles in the Pelham Bay area over the weekend and has deployed Neighborhood Coordination Officers, patrol officers and anti-crime personnel to the area to conduct patrols to monitor the area and search for a suspect(s) during every tour."
Sources say the detective squad is looking into over five complaints of vandalized cars.
