Multiple crews were on the scene of an apartment building fire that broke out early Sunday evening in Soundview.
The fire on the sixth floor of the building happened around 7:15 p.m. on Noble Avenue.
The FDNY said five people were injured, two of them seriously.
News 12 was told about 200 firefighters from about 50 different stations responded to the scene.
Five fire engines were stationed on the Noble Avenue side of the building battling the fire.
News 12 was told every occupant made it out of the building.
The building consists of 74 units.
News 12 was told by neighbors most of the building's occupants in are senior citizens and some confined to wheelchairs.
One resident said he was taking a nap when a neighbor knocked on his door and told him he needed to get out.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known as of Sunday night.
