Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz dreamed of becoming an NYPD officer.
The 15-year-old's life was tragically cut short last week when he was killed outside a bodega in the Belmont section of the Bronx.
The teen was a member of the NYPD's Explorers program. It gives young adults the opportunity to learn more about a career in law enforcement.
The program is geared toward young adults ages 14 to 20. The goal is to strengthen ties between the community and police officers.
"Explorers" are taught self-discipline and respect for diversity through training and community service projects.
Young adults who are interested can apply through the
NYPD's website or contact the Community Affairs Bureau's Youth Strategies Division for more information.
