Nassau police say a son is charged with two counts of attempted murder in the second degree for allegedly shooting his parents at their Hewlett Harbor home on Christmas.
Police say Dino Tomassetti, 29, went to the house on Seawand Drive in an attempt to get his 1-year-old child from his parents and his child’s mother.
During the dispute, police say he shot his 64-year-old mother, Vincenza Tomessetti, in the head and his 65-year-old father, Rocco Tomessetti, in the back and left wrist. The suspect then allegedly struck his father in the head numerous times after he ran out of bullets.
Both victims were conscious, alert and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities say the investigation led them to Mahwah, New Jersey, where Dino Tomassetti was arrested.
The child and mother were in the house at the time of the shooting but were unharmed.
Dino Tomassetti was arraigned Wednesday after being extradited back to Long Island.
Vincenza Tomassetti was released from the hospital Tuesday, and Rocco Tomassetti came home on Monday.
