7h agoThe Navy Band Northeast performed for middle school students in Soundview to celebrate Fleet Week.
Active-duty sailors, who are also full-time musicians, got the chance to educate these students on life at sea and how to pursue your artistic passions while serving our country.
Students got to listen to two groups play many songs, and afterward, they got to ask them questions about their unique roles.
"It's just so cool to be able to go here and connect with these students and remember what it was like to be in their shoes, wanting to do something like this one day," said Thomas Auger, a musician for the Navy Band Northeast.
Members from the band tell News 12 this is part of a week of performances throughout the city for Fleet Week.
