A new funeral home in the Bronx is preparing to open its doors with a mission to provide grieving families with comfort, dignity and personalized care during some of life's most difficult moments.
Forever After Funeral Services is set to open its new location on Oct. 15, offering a space designed to feel more like home than a traditional funeral parlor.
From black-and-gold accents to a private family lounge, owners Michael Scuoppo and Heliot Lara say they planned every detail with families in mind.
"We wanted a different feel for the funeral industry and the funeral home," said Scuoppo. "For the families, we wanted comfort, luxury. We want them to have the best."
The business partners have spent nearly 20 years working in the funeral industry. For years, they operated Forever After Funeral Services out of Williams Funeral Home. As their business grew, they realized it was time to establish a space of their own.
"As the years went by, we just got busier and busier," said Lara. "And so, we knew it was time for us to get our own place."
One of the most unique features of the new funeral home is its focus on serving only one family at a time. Unlike many funeral homes that host multiple services simultaneously, Forever After Funeral Services will operate with a single viewing room.
"We want to concentrate on one family at a time," Lara explained. "Your loved one passes away, you come here, and this is where you're going to be, and we're going to take care of everything, one family at a time."
The owners say their goal is to help families navigate loss with compassion and respect while creating an environment where they feel supported throughout the process.
For Scuoppo and Lara, opening the funeral home is about more than expanding their business. They hope it becomes a place where Bronx families can honor their loved ones with dignity and care.
"You only get one time to do it right," said Scuoppo. "And we want to do it to the best that we can, make them feel at home, make them feel comfortable."
