A newly renovated building at 521 Bergen Ave. in the Hub is looking for tenants to fill five floors of office space.

The landlord says it will work with each tenant to design a floor that’s best suited for that business.

The Bridge, a nonprofit that works with people struggling with mental illnesses, is the first tenant in the space.

“It's great when we can provide a very professional and welcoming space for the people that we serve,” said Alison Dehaven, the vice president of community support programs at The Bridge.

Dehaven tells News 12 they hope other community-oriented businesses move in, so the building can turn into a resource hub for the community.

She says most of their clients live locally, so having additional resources available in the building would streamline support for those who need it most.

The building’s leasing manager Bill Korchak says safety is a priority in the building. There’s a security guard on site from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“Given the neighborhood, it helps to have extra security. We've also have cameras outside and we've increased the lighting at night,” Korchak said.

There’s also a security system at each of the building’s entry points. People need a key card to get in the front door, the lobby and the elevator.

Korchak says having a secure building is important to foster a sense of comfort among employees, especially when businesses are handling a wide range of clients.
