New data from Transportation Alternatives identifies 118 dangerous intersections across New York City where five or more people were killed or seriously injured in the last three years.

In The Bronx, several locations stand out as especially dangerous. The list includes Bruckner Boulevard and St. Ann’s Avenue; Cortlandt Park South and West Gun Hill Road; Cruger Avenue and Bronxdale Avenue; 183rd Street and the Grand Concourse; and 149th Street and the Grand Concourse.
District 17, represented by Council Member Rafael Salamanca Jr., had one of the highest concentrations of hazardous crossings.
Advocates are urging the City Council to pass Intro 1138, the universal daylighting bill, before the end of the legislative session. The bill would prohibit parking at the corner to improve visibility. Supporters say more than 1,800 people have been killed or seriously injured at intersections since the bill was introduced and they cannot wait any longer for safer streets.
