The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has introduced a series of proposals aimed at enhancing measures against risky driving behavior.

The proposed changes encompass various aspects, including increasing the points associated with dangerous driving, lowering the threshold for license disqualification for habitual offenders, and implementing stricter measures for drivers with multiple reckless driving convictions.

Additionally, the DMV aims to make it more difficult for drivers with a history of alcohol- or drug-related driving convictions to regain their driving privileges.

These proposals will be open for public comment for a period of 60 days and can be reviewed in the New York State Register.
