Calls for increased regulation of e-bikes are growing louder, and one lawmaker is proposing new rules that would require things like licenses in order to purchase them.

State Sen. Luis Sepulveda is introducing new legislation that would require people who want to purchase e-bikes to meet a set of qualifications.

Those qualifications include having both a license and insurance.

It would also penalize vendors who sell e-bikes to people who don't meet them.
