A groundbreaking ceremony took place Thursday for a new FedEx facility in Mott Haven.The 98,000-square foot facility is located at the Harlem River Yards at Saint Ann?s Avenue and East 132nd Street. The new $21 million facility will mean new jobs for residents. FedEx directors say about 250 Bronx residents work at the 34th Street facility in Manhattan, which is being closed to make way for a subway line. All of those employees will be given the choice to relocate to the new office in the Bronx.Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion says the new business is a great sign for the Bronx. He says big companies investing in the borough bring stability and an economic future.
