A Brooklyn nonprofit received a grant this week due to a new initiative by the NBA Foundation to provide economic opportunities for Black youth in the city.
The foundation picked Digital Girl for one of the 38 grants given nationally in December.
Digital Girl started in a Bed-Stuy basement in 2014 and, seven years later, now has two locations - an office on Fulton Street and a technology center in Crown Heights.
The grant will provide Digital Girl the chance to open its technology center to the public, giving more of Brooklyn the chance to learn skills that could lead to a career.
