New Jersey gas prices rise 3 cents overnight as Iran tensions rattle oil markets

Anxiety grows over high fuel prices at the pump after a potential unraveling of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

According to AAA the national average gallon of gas in New Jersey is up 3 cents overnight.

The average gallon of gas in New Jersey is $3.89 and $3.84 for the national average.

At some stations, prices are already approaching $4 a gallon. At a Wawa on Woodbridge Avenue in Edison, regular gas was selling for $3.99 Thursday morning.

Gas prices were coming down this summer, but now some might be worried that prices are going to go up again with a potential unraveling of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

Experts say tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has essentially stopped. They say the coming days will be key in determining whether the increase is temporary or the start of a larger rise in fuel prices.
