New Life church marks grand opening in permanent space
Sunday marks the grand opening of a new church in the Bronx and at the helm is a local politician.
Councilman Fernando Cabrera is the pastor at the New Life Outreach International church.
The non-denominational Christian church prides itself on inclusivity.
Cabrera says the goal is to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heartfelt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need.
The councilman says he helped launch the church roughly 30 years ago but the congregation has moved around. The last four years were spent at the Kipps Bay Boys and Girls Club. But now, the church has a permanent space that Cabrera says was built from the ground up with a state-of-the-art sound system and LED video wall.
The New Life church has classrooms downstairs that will be used to teach children. The building is also equipped with a day care as Cabrera says the congregation strives to be a 24/7 church for the community.
