A city housing complex in the Bronx is now a brighter place to live after hundreds of new, state-of-the-art lights were installed.
At the Castle Hill Houses, 749 LED lights are now lighting the way for more than 9,000 tenants who live in the complex.
The new lighting fixtures at entrances, walkways and parking areas are part of a $140 million city investment plan to improve safety at more than a dozen city housing developments.
The new lights are energy efficient and shorter to the ground, providing more light to the area.
Before the new installation, Castle Hill tenants say the development was a magnet for crime. Many say they now feel safer knowing the complex is better lit.
More than 240 new LED lights were also installed at the Butler Houses.
