A new-look library with affordable housing on top is coming to the Grand Concourse.
The city plans to redeveloping the standing Grand Concourse Library on East 173rd Street with affordable housing units on top of it and new state-of-the-art library amenities.
Those amenities include a multistory facility with a dedicated children’s area, a teen center, a community room and an adult reading room. The library will offer free New York Public Library after-school help as well as college and career hubs.
The existing library is 65 years old, and the upgrades include making the building fully accessible.
The project is currently in its beginning stages and is seeking out public input.
