A new vaccination program in the South Bronx is putting an emphasis on students receiving their booster shots and returning to the classroom.
The state approved the Vaccine for Children program, which allowed Wednesday's event to take place. Public Preparatory Network is hoping by offering these vaccination appointments that parents will bring their children so they can roll up their sleeves before heading back to in-person learning.
Staff from Alegria Health and Wellness are making the process for students to get the COVID-19 vaccine as painless and easy as possible. They are hoping this effort will help to increase vaccination rates in neighborhoods with low rates and keep students healthy as they return to the classroom.
Alegria Health and Wellness is offering vaccines and boosters for anyone over 5 years old within the community.
