News 12 got a sneak peak of the 33rd New York Botanical Garden Train Show on Tuesday.
“We have dozens of trains traversing more than half a mile of track here at the conservatory,” said Joanna Groarke, VP of Exhibitions and Programming.
This year’s theme for the winter wonderland is New York City.
“It's a celebration of New York City. We've been building this beautiful collection for the 33 years it's been in existence. Starting with just a small number of models up to the now almost 200 models that we have in this collection,” Laura Busse Dolan, president and CEO of Applied Imagination.
From the Statue of Liberty to Yankee Stadium, you’ll find one of your favorite city landmarks - and each landmark is made completely from plant parts.
“Everything from the bark from trees to acorn caps to walnuts that have been sliced so that they form different ornamental features of all of the buildings,” says Groarke.
The train show begins on Nov. 16 and ends on Jan. 20.
