Many schools are changing how they will operate in the fall in order to protect their students amid the pandemic.
Schools will encourage behaviors that reduce the spread of germs, including adapting new cleaning and disinfecting procedures, with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
They will also try to give student’s immune systems a boost with a big emphasis on healthy foods and nutrition.
The New York fall sports system will be delayed. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association says fall sports championships are canceled.
Getting to and from school might change a little as well. Aside from mask wearing and cleaning, students may be spread apart on busses, and some schools may look into arrival and departure procedures involving parental pickups.
The CDC also recommends schools repurpose unused or underutilized spaces. They say it’s to increase classroom space to encourage social distancing.
