Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, has begun and the Jewish community is celebrating the holiday with prayer and live performances at the Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg.

Bowl Hashanah is an annual celebration of Rosh Hashanah at the Brooklyn Bowl. The celebration underway is where service goers are observing the holiday that marks the start of the High Holy Days.

The Sway Machinery played Jewish ritual music. Services will be held led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner, a renowned Jewish scholar and spiritual leader.

Rosh Hashanah is a 10-day period of reflection and a time to repent in anticipation of the coming year.

The holiday traditionally calls on people to consider how they might have fallen short in the last year and how they can improve in the coming year.

Along with live music, those attending are also celebrating with a shofar blowing and meditation.
