The new Archbishop of New York Ronald Hicks will officially step into his new position Friday.

Pope Leo the XIV named Hicks as the 11th archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York back in December. In Illinois, Hicks served as Bishop of Joliet since 2020.

It happened when Timothy Dolan announced his resignation, which is required by church law at 75 years of age.

Ahead of his installation, there will be vespers at St. Patrick's Cathedral starting at 5 p.m. Thursday. The installation Mass will be held at the same location starting at 2 p.m. Friday.
