New youth mental health clinic opens its doors in Downtown Brooklyn

The Jewish Childcare Association has officially opened a new space geared at providing children and adolescents with a variety of mental health and family services. The new state-of-the-art- facility is family-oriented, with each therapy session room stocked with friendly activities like board games and tons of natural light.
"Our goal is to ensure that we are here for children in New York City. And to ensure that when their families are going through difficult times that there is support at the ready,” said Ronald Richter, the chief executive and executive director of the Jewish Childcare Association.
The new center is located in Downtown Brooklyn and was designed to serve children of all age groups. Sessions can be held in a traditional early literacy room or even a teen lounge.
"There are intensive community-based mental health services so, really JCCA is focused on being able to support children and young people with any emotional and behavioral struggles they might experience," said Sarah Johansson who serves as the program director for the Brooklyn Counseling Center at the Jewish Childcare Association.
JCCA is a 200-year-old organization dedicated to providing the highest quality child welfare and mental health services to more than 17,000 children and their families every year, according to JCCA staff.
