And we continue to follow breaking news right here on News 12 the Bronx. Good evening everyone. I'm Kurt Semer. And tonight a 15 year old student is facing charges after police say he slashed a classmate in the face. It happened inside the A EC I charter school in Melrose and News Twelve's Heather Fordham is joining us from outside the school right now. Heather, what do we know about the students involved? Both of these students are 15 years older and are in the nine th grade here at a EC Charter High school. One of them was taken to the hospital while the other was taken into police custody and is now facing assault charges. Tell us a play fight turned violent Thursday morning sending the architecture, engineering and construction industry's charter high school into a lockdown. He said that some, some kid got into a fight and they was playing out first and then all of a sudden somebody got stabbed. So you know, automatically I'm thinking about my own child. Nas Water's son is a student here. He says an alarming email came in around noon. Two students were messing around when one pulled out a box cutter and slashed the other student across the face. The student was rushed to Lincoln Hospital while the other student was taken into police custody. But once I hear something like that with a kid, you know, automatically your first response is straight to the school. I think any parent feel the same way about their child. According to parents, the ninth through 12th grade school does not have metal detectors and does not scan students when they walk in. It's a normal thing for anybody to be, you know, concerned about their safety because you don't know, you know what I mean? The next time it could be a gun that's brought into school in the now, thankfully that student that was slashed is expected to be ok. Meanwhile, we have reached out to the school for a statement on the situation but we have not yet heard back. That's the latest in Melrose, Heather Fordham News. 12.
