News 12 visited P.S. 65X for Bronx Week to highlight what the school and students are doing for their community.
Mother Hale Academy second graders reflected on their efforts.
A fire burned through homes on Cypress Avenue in April, directly across the street from the school. One of the second graders was displaced. The school organized a bake sale to raise money for the families.
Makayla told News 12 the support from teachers and fellow students made her feel special.
The students prepared poems, songs and a presentation to show how they work together.
