A Bayonne oncology nurse, who died after being knocked down by a mugger in Times Square, was remembered by friends and family during her wake Sunday.
Maria Ambrocio was walking through New York City on Oct. 8 when a man who was allegedly fleeing after stealing a phone knocked her down.
Police say she hit her head on the ground and went unconscious. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where she died later that day.
There will be a church service Monday at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Bayonne at 10:45 a.m. and friends and family are asked to bring a red rose.
Ambrocio's family tells News 12 that she first moved to the U.S. from the Philippines when she was a young girl.
