NJ Travel and Tourism reports business boom over summer for Jersey Shore

Towns and businesses at the Jersey Shore bounced back over the summer, according to the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism.
The report says Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties saw big booms from June 1 through Aug. 31.
The entire state saw a 44% boost in hotel room stays during that time compared to 2020, which led to a 74% rise in revenue.
Beach badges also got a boost. Cape May saw a 35% increase compared to 2019.
State bed tax revenue for hotels hit a record high in 2021 and is expected to reach more than $19 million dollars. That’s a 71% jump from last year.
Gov. Phil Murphy praised the boost in tourism, saying, "This summer proved we are 'Jersey Strong' and 'Jersey Proud.' We look forward to welcoming even more visitors in 2022 and expect another great year."
