Jurors continued deliberating Thursday in the historic torture‑killing trial underway at the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains.

It was the second full day jurors spent weighing the case against Kenya Tilford.

The day was largely uneventful for family and friends who came to court expecting to hear a verdict. But the jury did send a note asking the judge to re-read the top two murder charges Tilford faces.

Tilford, of New Rochelle, is accused of torturing her girlfriend, Concetta Morton, for months before killing her. A medical examiner determined months after Morton's 2023 death that she died from asphyxiation.

Defense attorneys are using the delay in determining the cause of death to support their case.

Prosecutors also accuse Tilford of concealing Morton’s body in a storage bin at her apartment. She is additionally accused of sexually abusing two other people.

Tilford has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted of first‑degree murder, she faces 20 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

This is the first time the district attorney’s office has prosecuted a torture‑murder charge.

Deliberations will continue on Friday.
