The New York City Basket Brigade is getting prepared for the Thanksgiving season to provide meals for those in need.
Every November for the past quarter-century, Anna Olivo and her team of volunteers have put together baskets to help families have their own Thanksgiving dinner.
The Basket Brigade has a history of helping families throughout the Bronx and Brooklyn, and one former recipient of these baskets is now a volunteer giving them out to those who need them.
“It’s heartwarming, especially when they tear up and they say they didn’t know how they were going to do this this year,” said the volunteer.
