A nonprofit headed by a woman who once experienced homelessness is now giving out thousands of presents to others in need.
More than 100,000 gifts are being collected and wrapped to give out to those in need in Lynne Corry's basement in Throgs Neck.
'Giving Friends' only became an official nonprofit organization this year, but Corry started helping others more than two decades ago.
She first launched a Christmas toy drive while she was getting sober as a new mom 23 years ago.
She now has dozens of volunteers helping her throughout the year. Her husband even renovated their basement into a major wrapping and packing headquarters.
Corry now partners with big clothing brands, banks and other companies, and plans to reach more than 2,500 families this holiday season.
Corry says they'll keep delivering gifts even after the holiday into next year trying to reach as many people as they can.
