Six governors from the Northeast were holding an emergency summit this weekend to discuss plans to combat the coronavirus as cases surge across the nation— especially with the holiday season right around the corner.

Thanksgiving sends millions of people packing, but this year it's expected to look different.

Governors from the states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Rhode Island were expected to present at the digital summit. The leaders said they would use data to align their policies.

The National Federation of Independent Business is constantly on edge with governors largely making unilateral decisions, saying, "The economic wreckage that added restrictions could cause here in New Jersey should be carefully considered because the consequences could be dire for small businesses and their employees."

The summit was expected to continue throughout the weekend.
