New York state is saying "I do" to wedding receptions again, but with COVID-19 restrictions.

On Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that beginning in mid-March, brides and grooms will once again be able to get married surrounded by family and friends. Gov. Cuomo is allowing catering facilities to host weddings at 50% capacity up to 150 people, starting March 15.

"I was immediately excited and stressed at the same time -- like, 'Oh my God, I can't believe this is potentially actually happening.'"

Meghan Saccone of Massapequa and her fiancé Matthew say they were shocked to hear that they would be able to have 150 guests at their wedding. Their original date was March 21, 2020 -- that got canceled just three days earlier when the state went into lockdown. They rescheduled four more times. April 2, 2021 is now their wedding day at the Stonebridge Country Club.

Ashley Freiss of Holbrook told News 12 she was thrilled to learn that her June wedding officially got the green light Friday morning.

"We've been trying to plan this for almost two years now," she said.

"Our immediate families are maybe only 50 people. So to have 150, it really allows for more family members that we really want there to enjoy our day with us," Freiss said.

Steve Kirschbaum is the director of the catering division for the Lessings Group, which runs more than a dozen facilities across the Island, including the Stonebridge. He says as soon as the news broke, "The phones lit up in every one of our venues."

Gov. Cuomo said all patrons at weddings will be tested for coronavirus, and the event must be approved by the local heatlh department.

It's news worth celebrating for many happy couples.

"We'll take anything," said Freiss.
