A major Bronx hospital received some funding to support patients fighting for their lives.
Doctors say that this winter’s tridemic has put serious pressure on local hospitals, especially the intensive care unit at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln will be receiving $3 million in funding, and a large portion of that will go toward expanding the ICU. They plan to add 38 new-and-improved ICU beds, equipped with new technology and designed to get ill patients back on their feet faster.
“For our critical care patients, having these specialty beds is essential,” said Dr. Lillian Diaz of NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. “We’re so grateful for the support to be able to upgrade our equipment and technology and the patients… are the ones who will benefit.”
Diaz and Dr. Lewis Marshall say improved mobility with the new beds will help prevent fluid buildup in the lungs of ICU patients and will pave the way for improved care in the future.
