The NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull campus held a celebration on the last day of pride month.
Rainbows were splashed all over the entrance to the hospital. Workers say this pride month they want LGBTQ+ people to know they are welcome and safe here.
Officials with the hospital tell News 12 Woodhull's Pride Health Center is the first comprehensive health center dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community in North Brooklyn. It was opened more than six years ago.
They felt it was necessary in the borough when realizing there were at the time 100,000 Brooklyn residents who identified as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
The hospital displayed a six-foot tall balloon display, played music and had speakers to honor LGBTQ+ people and let them know that quality health care is available there for them.
The event also offered free COVID-19 testing, as well as letting the community know of the services they offer every day.
