The staff at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull were presented with a $2 million check from Rep. Nydia Velazquez.
The hospital is set to get new upgrades to its facilities and to better improve their care of patients. Velazquez says the funding will help to reduce health care disparities in northern Brooklyn, a community she says is often overlooked.
“It doesn’t matter the zip code, everyone is entitled to quality health care and that is the statement we are making today,” said Velazquez. “You have to upgrade your equipment continuously… we always have a need for additional funding that we don’t have within our regular budgets.”
Longtime patient Christian Rodriguez says this funding will be noticed by the many people who rely on the hospital’s services.
"When I came here to emergency once they couldn't take care of me because they didn't have one piece of equipment,” said Rodriguez. “They're making changes, they're making improvements, they're listening to the patient's needs, complaints, and praises.”
Staff say they’re hoping this funding will allow them to give patients the quality care they deserve.
